Adonis Reed

Adonis Reed (pictured left and right) has been identified as the victim of a murder in the infamous town of Amityville, New York after he was discovered by emergency workers at his home

Suffolk County police arrested a man accused killing a 4-year-old boy found  alone inside a Long Island home.

Adonis Reed was found unconscious and alone in an Amityville apartment on  Wednesday afternoon.  The boy later died at the hospital.

Jonathan Thompson was apprehended Friday night around 7:35 p.m. in  Brooklyn. He was arraigned Saturday in Central Islip on murder  charges.

It was an emotional day in court as family and friends of the victim attended  the hearing.

Some people wept openly.  Others were brought to their knees in the  parking lot outside the Suffolk County courthouse. Others were clearly angry and  outraged about the death of their relative Adonis Reed.

“He didn’t deserve it. He didn’t deserve to get beat like that,” said one  family member.

Thompson has pleaded not guilty to second degree murder charges. But  prosecutors say the 31-year-old  has admitted he punched the 4-year-old boy  twice and caused significant internal bleeding; all because the child wouldn’t  take a nap.

Investigators say Thompson lived in the house where Reed was discovered dead  Wednesday.

The boy was found alone inside the home, badly bruised. It’s unclear what  Thompson’s relationship to the boy is, but reports indicate he was dating the  child’s grandmother who also lived at the house.

Lashon Reed says she is victim’s aunt.

“A God given gift and we cherished him. And I tried so long to help him,”  said Reed.

Adonis Reed had a sister and she is now in the custody of the child welfare  department.

Leah Marie Aguirre

The FBI has found the dead body of missing 2-year-old Leah Marie Aguirre behind a home at 502 S. Ayrshire in Crosbyton, according to Crosbyton Police Chief Greg Parrot. Parrot claims her body was found in a box in the …basement wrapped in plastic and intentionally hidden.   The homeowner is Matilda Almaraz who was Leah’s caregiver at the time of her disappearance. At this time, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.   Tina Aguirre, the child’s mother, was being investigated by CPS prior to her daughter’s disappearance. The Crosby County Sheriff’s Office was also investigating reports that Tina was trying to sell her daughter Leah for $2000 to someone in Mexico. Tina denied these allegations.   Authorities say they were told a man named Miguel posed as CPS worker and took the child from Almaraz’s home. News of her disappearance sparked a statewide Amber Alert and an investigation by the FBI, the Texas Rangers and local law enforcement. Hundreds of calls have come in from across the country with tips about the case.   The Amber Alert for Leah Marie Aguirre was canceled shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday. UPDATE: Matilda Almaraz has been arrested and is being charged with capital murder in connection with the death of Leah Marie Aguirre.
